OMOO and the Skipper were wandering between Campbell River and Squirrel Cove with our friend JD on Daydream while Sideways was back in the big stink slogging through the trenches (otherwise called work). JD and Harold buddy boated to Denham Bay to Rendezvous with Bob and Lisa on Tualanna and friends Dave and Kathy on Reelin Time. This is an amazing little Marina and Resort just past Dent and Stuart Island rapids.
Sideways flew back to OMOO which was a supreme treat on Coral Air out of Campbell River. It was 15 minutes of pure paradise looking over the beautiful islands and inlets of Desolation Sound. The weather was perfect and nothing could have been better the whole week.
We were joined by George and Judy on Top Brass for some serious fishing. What a hoot spending time on the dock with people from Maple Bay!! And the fishing, well, that was pretty awesome!! We dropped our hooks just at the end of the turbulence from the rapids and BOOM, a catch on first try. Within 20 minutes and a change in the lure, Sideways hooked a 47CM lingcod. That’s alot of fish, so we headed in for the prep, a hike and a lovely evening on the dock feasting on our catch, along with Scandinavian treats from Lisa and Eva.
The only sad part of these days is that eventually we had to leave. If you ever get a chance to stop in Denham Bay, Pete and Sarah are the most wonderful hosts that make their slice of paradise most welcoming.
WELL WORTH THE TRIP!!
