June is in bloom in Vancouver and what a treat to call this lovely city our home for awhile. Usually we find ourselves far north of Cape Caution this time of year but a minor adjustment in our plans is giving us time to explore Granville Island.
We’ve had the sea gods smiling down on us on our crossing of the Strait and gave us another spectacular day of sailing to Vancouver on June 1!!
The Skipper keeps busy on his boat projects (YEAH WE HAVE A STERN TIE ROLLER) while Sideways Sally is off saving lives. Working and living aboard is a great treat and a bit of an experiment. While it’s awesome to wake up on the boat at 5:30am to prepare for the workday, the snooze button is not greatly appreciated by somebody else aboard.
Evenings are an even bigger treat with a stroll to our favorite restaurant and a walk around with all the ducks and geese. Every day brings new boats to the dock and one of our greatest joys of living and travelling on OMOO is meeting new neighbors.
The big Moody is what’s tempting to call SS when home from a 12 hour shift, but it’s actually the make of the big sailboat which is in from Australia on the next dock which we’ve been admiring. The last stop of the evening is a chat with the Skipper and 1st Mate of a 46′ Bavaria from Calgary on our dock last night in the warm evening sun. Exchanging boat cards, boating stories, plans for summer sailing and information on destinations enhances the day. Such is life on the highway to the world!! WE LOVE IT!!
All tucked in for the night, and we’ll be cozy in the belly of OMOO as well, rested and ready for another day of whatever life has to bring.
